Signs of PCOS

Mood changes

Mood changes are common in PCOS due to hormonal imbalances. You may experience anxiety, irritability, or sadness. These emotional shifts can impact daily life and relationships if not addressed.

Hair loss

Hair thinning or loss, especially at the crown or front of the scalp, is a common sign of PCOS. Elevated androgen levels can shrink hair follicles, leading to noticeable hair fall or patches of reduced hair density over time.

Ovarian cysts

Ovarian cysts are fluid-filled sacs that may develop on the ovaries in women with PCOS. These cysts are often detected during an ultrasound. While they may not always cause pain, their presence is linked to hormonal imbalances and irregular ovulation, contributing to fertility issues and menstrual cycle disruptions.

Infertility

PCOS can disrupt ovulation, making it harder to conceive. Irregular periods and hormonal imbalances are major causes of infertility in women with this condition.

Acne

Acne in PCOS is caused by excess androgens, which increase oil production in the skin. This often leads to stubborn breakouts, especially on the face, chest, and upper back.

EXCESS HAIR GROWTH

Excess hair growth, known as hirsutism, is a common symptom of PCOS. It occurs due to elevated androgen levels, leading to thick, dark hair on areas like the face, chest, stomach, and back. This can affect self-esteem and may require medical or cosmetic treatment to manage and reduce hair growth.

Irregular periods

Irregular periods are a hallmark of PCOS and result from disrupted ovulation. Women may experience missed periods, very light or heavy bleeding, or cycles that are too long or too short. This hormonal imbalance can also impact fertility and overall reproductive health.
